Log 24.11.04
This will be my last log entry before the US election. I am dreading this election and will be doing whatever I can to distract myself from it. I intend to not check any news until mid day on November 6th. Both candidates uphold the deeply immoral status quo of the US empire. However, I will not succumb to rhetoric that says both of them are equally bad and either outcome will be the same. I cast an early vote for Kamala Harris. I must, no matter how bad the options, make the rational choice to reduce harm. Nothing is fixed by the performance of moral purity.
If Donald Trump is elected, what I fear most is not the actual implementation of his policies. I trust that the massive inertia of the federal government will prevent him from actually banning gender affirming care, conducting mass deportations, or closing entire federal departments. What I fear most about a second Trump administration is recognizing that a huge portion of my fellow citizen and a majority of voters actually support fascistic policies. I believe deeply in peace and human unity, but it is hard to find common ground with people who would so eager embrace division and oppression.
If Harris is elected, things can go back to normal, a terrible normal. There would likely be, as in 2020 and 2021, months of lawsuits, protests, and potentially violence. When it all settles and Kamala Harris is inaugurated the funding of genocide, the punishment of asylum seekers, and routine grind of capitalism will continue. I will continue to agitate against these injustices, I just hope that more injustices are not piled on top.

I've completed my classroom observations at a public elementary school. I was primarily in a 4th grade classroom but also spent time observing 3rd and 1st grade. More than anything I saw the impact of childhood poverty on education. I met a young girl whose family was living in a hotel until they were evicted due to he father arguing with the hotel staff. Another student needed help from the school to wash up and do his laundry because his house no longer had hot water. Many of the student were food insecure. It is an outrageous injustice that we expect families to survive in these conditions.
I have continued my practice with Esperanto. I have completed The Esperanto Teacher by Helen Fryer as an audiobook. This has improved my pronunciation but I will need more practice to apply and retain the grammar. I also learned that virtual esperanto tutoring is available through the website italky. However, I will need to wait until I have completed by degree before I can afford any extra services like that.

Log 24.9.9
This is my first entry. Unlike other writing on this web page these logs will be less composed and will cover a wider range of topics. I will periodically document my own work and education. I will also reply to comments and questions here.
At my local community garden we have nearly gotten the roof of the tool shed built. This will be useful for dirrecting rainwater to our rail barrels. The Really Really Free Market has been approved to hold events at Johnson County Libraries. At Mutual Aid Day, I sparked a lot of interest in the idea of starting a local tool library. I have finally recieved placement for student teaching observations.
