Welcome to Spaceship Earth
We are all the crew of our spaceship. We have a crew of over 8,000,000,000 and at least 148,326,000 km2 of living space. Our ship has been traveling for over 4 billion years at 828,000 km/h. Thanks to our self healing life support system we are able to constantly recycle our resources into breathable air, potable water, and fresh food.
However, terrible leadership has damaged our spaceship to the point of near critical failure. The ship itself is virtually unstoppable but the crew is at significant risk. Our climate is overheating. Our living spaces are contaminated with hazardous chemical waste. But worse of all, we are at risk of permanently damaging our life support system. If our soil is depleted, aquifers are drained, biodiversity and biomass is sharply decreased, our oceans acidified, our fresh water polluted, and our air contaminated, then the life support systems that we take for granted will collapse beyond our capacity to repair them.
This is the purpose of this web page, to document the problems faced by our spaceship earth and to document and advocate for presently possible solutions to these problems. We must support peace efforts so that we can stop wasting lives and resources on wars. We must use science and engineering to make efficient use of our resources. We must abandon destructive and failed leadership styles. Together we can all become better crew members of spaceship earth. This page will be dedicated to using science for the benefit of humanity and our spaceship Earth.
